My upcoming single “Wannabe” was born out of a real-life experience when my first boyfriend cheated on me with a friend. At that moment, I felt like my entire world was falling apart. But looking back, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it helped me write a great song.
I was inspired by the iconic Spice Girls song “Wannabe.” Their lyrics say, “If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends.” I thought it would be fun to put my spin on it, so I changed the lyrics to, “If you wanna be my lover, then don’t get with my friends.” It’s a light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek twist on their hit, and I hope you enjoy it.
I worked on the song from the comfort of my home studio, where I recorded, co-produced, mixed, and mastered the record. My hope is that everyone who listens to the song feels a sense of empowerment, especially those who have experienced similar situations of infidelity.
