Nadedja is an Independant Brazilian Alt pop singer/songwriter based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.

Born in Piauí, a state in Northeastern Brazil, Newcastle-based alt-pop singer/songwriter Nadedja has always had the power to mesmerise and captivate an audience through her storytelling. Her music is a journey of self-acceptance, navigating her experience of moving to the UK for love and the joys and heartbreaks of building a life in a completely new country, all while trying to maintain a connection to her ancestry.

Inspired by artists like Maggie Rogers, Rosalía, Florence & The Machine and Empress Of, Nadedja’s unique style combines Western pop and rock influences (her father was a fan of 60s/70s artists like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Doors) with Brazilian ones. The fingerprints of música popular brasileira (MPB) are recognisable in her melodies, the genre fusion of São Paulo songwriter Liniker has emboldened her own, and forró pé de serra – a folk genre particular to the Northeast – has been a strong presence throughout her life. She recalls how every day after lunch, as a child, her grandad would sing songs by the pioneering Luiz Gonzaga while she slept in a hammock through the afternoon heat.

Since moving to the UK, Nadedja has fully embraced the chance to build her solo artist career, culminating in her music being championed by BBC Look North as part of the 2025 MOBO Awards x BBC Introducing showcase at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music. She is an awardee of PRS Foundation’s 2024 Women Make Music, and was selected to be part of the Ivors Academy’s In The Room initiative. This programme sparked Nadedja’s passion for advocacy; She published a paper and presented her findings to a panel of industry experts at Westminster University, shining a spotlight on global majority music creators based in Northeast England. Nadedja’s music embodies that same resilience. Combining traditional sensibilities with future-facing experimentalism, she has been widely supported by BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing at both a regional and national level, with live performances at UK festivals such as Latitude, Dot 2 Dot, Lindisfarne and Hardwick Live. As she places the finishing touches to her debut album, ‘Twilight’ sets the stage of her open-hearted approach to life, love and connection.

With the support of PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music Award, Nadedja returns with new music, recorded and co-produced with Bob Mackenzie (The 1975, Anne-Marie, James Blake). ‘Twilight’ is the glistening new single from Nadedja and is the first taste of her long-awaited debut album, scheduled for release in late 2025.

‘Twilight’ is an energetic pop song that honours the effortless connections found close to home. After moving to the UK, with her partner and her beloved golden retriever in tow, the song captures their journey with a sense of euphoria and gratitude. ‘Twilight’ bounces and rolls like a road trip – sun warming the dashboard, car windows down – a spring offering and the first chapter of her story. “We’re such a united group. It feels amazing that we worked so hard to build this life and made it happen together. So it’s a very happy song for me, but also emotional in a way,” she says. “It’s that feeling of: even if no one else gets me, at least I have you both.”
