Aisha Badru is an alt folk, Nigerian-American singer-songwriter based in New York USA.

With over 135 million total music streams and 400k monthly listeners, Aisha Badru has received critical praise from the likes of NPR Music, Okayplayer, The Line of Best Fit, Afropunk, Clash, Atwood Magazine, Ones To Watch and more. When she first started making music roughly a decade ago, Aisha was thoughtful about her musical journey, if not a bit hesitant. Known for her introspective lyrics and emotive performances, she soon established herself as a solid voice in the folk music scene. With each subsequent release she has continued to evolve, exploring themes of love, personal growth, and wellness, and turning her into a purposeful creator.

Much of Aisha’s magic lies in alchemy, distilling an often-tangled human experience into simple truths and quieting the noise to pave a path towards introspection. Her music is at once powerful and beautiful, as evidenced in her recent singles, the hushed indie pop of “Thankful To Be Here”, the bright and soothing “Life To Live”, the excellent “A Little Mad”, folky lead single “Boundaries” and now the delicate “Side Of The Moon” – all taken from the new record ‘The Sun Still Rises’, out November 29th 2024 via Nettwerk.

Aisha says that much of ‘The Sun Still Rises’ is devoted to the immeasurable power of stillness and reflection. Co-written and produced with Handsome Ghost’s Eddie Byun and Tim Noyes “Side Of The Moon” is a natural, hopeful jump from wellness anthem ‘Boundaries’, urging listeners to not just take time for themselves but to also make that time significant

“Side of The Moon is about having faith that everything happens in our lives for a divine purpose. And that everything we go through is pushing us in the direction of wholeness and healing which in some way is also simultaneously contributing to the wholeness and healing of the world.”
