ROOUE are an electronic alt-pop twin duo from London and Dublin, merging gritty electronic production and dark pop infused stylings. They use glistening harmonization to create an honest and raw insight into love, loss and empowerment from vulnerability.

London and Dublin based, Ro and Lulu grew up in a home warmed by music and creative expression. With a music psychotherapist mother and “jazz nerd” father, their life was soundtracked by everything from soul, jazz, traditional Irish music to electronic experimental pop.

With their newly released debut EP they pay homage to these artists by infusing their own unique flair, crafting a sound that is both familiar and authentic.

Despite their recent arrival on the scene, ROOUE’s previous singles have earned them millions of impacts on Irish radio and has achieved number 4 in the Irish Breakers Charts. With their journey only beginning, ROOUE has been titled ‘one of the most exciting emerging acts on the scene’.

Fresh from their sold-out debut London headline show and following the success of their debut EP “Juxtaposition”, ROOUE continue to build momentum with this bold, summer-ready track. The EP received over 5 million impacts on Irish radio and was hailed as “their best release to date” by GoldenPlec.

“Hate Him” is a bold, electrifying anthem that channels the raw emotion of personal heartbreak. Inspired by the chaos of messy breakups within a shared friend group, it captures the disillusionment of watching once-tight bonds fall apart – all wrapped in a hooky, relatable punch.

It was born from personal heartbreak – messy breakups within the same friend group – and the disillusionment of watching once-close friendships unravel in the aftermath. The track balances tongue-in-cheek humour with raw vulnerability, diving into the politics of post-breakup alliances and the desperate need for validation from friends when everything feels upside down.

“People always warn you not to date in your friend group. Unfortunately, we both had to learn that the hard way. This song reveals what it’s like to have your friends take the wrong side.”
