Kaigara is a dark folk singer-songwriter and violinist based in Los Angeles.

She blends fingerstyle guitar, classical violin, and alto vocals to write about ecology, diaspora, and non-linear time. She draws inspiration from Maricka Hackman, Pinegrove, and Carnatic improvisation. As a classically-trained violinist, she has performed with the likes of Lindsey Stirling and Jesus Molina.

Mango Tree:

Starting with lone nylon guitar and ending in a vortex of strings, Mango Tree is a haunting chamber folk song about the tender yet frustrating process of saving a doomed love — “planting a mango tree, knowing it won’t survive here in New Jersey.” Self-produced with help from Kyle Benor (Odie Leigh, Jack Van Cleaf) and Berto Sewald (Katy Kirby, Zach Bryan) it marks LA session violinist Kaigara (Amy Amatya)’s debut as a classically-inspired, lyric-focused songwriter, in kin with Agnes Obel and Maricka Hackman.
