“‘Playing House’ is a song I wrote whilst living in London, navigating a long distance relationship. It was inspired by the first time my boyfriend came to visit me in the city. We spent those days enveloped in our own world—cooking together, at the King’s Cross photobooth, on the tube and daydreaming about a chapter of life we hadn’t started yet.
To me, ‘Playing House’ is London in Autumn: cosy, wistful and vibrant. It’s playing house in a space that felt like ours, even if was just for a little while. It was like we were cosplaying as older us. When I hear this song now, I am transported back to that time; all the feelings come back to me like scenes from an old movie I haven’t seen in a while.”
